American Funds is one of the nation's oldest mutual fund families, serving investors since 1931. They are
also one of the nation's largest – third largest, in fact – representing over 30 million shareholder accounts. American Funds are distributed through financial advisors because they believe in the value of professional advice.
American Funds Insurance Series® is guided by the same investment manager as the 29 American Funds. American Funds and American Funds Insurance Series accounted for more than $1.1 trillion in assets under management, as of 12/31/06. Four factors help make American Funds Insurance Series different:
- Long-term, value-oriented approach — American Funds strives to buy the stocks and bonds of well-managed companies at reasonable prices and holds them for the long term.
- Unparalleled, integrated global research effort — the investment professionals made more than 9,000 research visits last year to get to know companies inside and out.
- Multiple portfolio counselor system — this unique system blends teamwork with individual effort.
- Experienced portfolio counselors — every effort is made to attract, and keep, some of the brightest people in the mutual fund industry.
